Easter stands as the most significant celebration in the Church, marking the cornerstone of our Christian faith: the Resurrection of Christ. This event, the greatest of miracles, affirms Jesus as God. St. Paul highlights its importance: “If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain; and your Faith is in vain” (1 Cor 15:14).
The declaration “Jesus is Lord, He is risen” (Rom 10:9) was central to the Apostles' teachings, fulfilling Jesus’ own prophecy: “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up” (Jn 2:19). Unlike the founders of other religions, Jesus has an empty tomb, a testament to His divinity, which neither the Jews nor the Romans could disprove. The unwavering belief of the Apostles and early Christians, even in the face of martyrdom, underscores the truth of the Resurrection. The resilient and growing early Church, thriving despite centuries of persecution, further supports this truth.
Easter assures us of our own resurrection, as Jesus promised Martha: “I am the Resurrection and the Life; whoever believes in Me will live even though he dies” (Jn 11:25-26).
Easter instills hope and encouragement amidst life's challenges, reminding us of life’s intrinsic worth. Our faith in the Risen Jesus present in our souls, the Church, the Blessed Sacrament, and Heaven gives meaning to our prayers and strengthens us against temptations, alleviating unnecessary fears.
As Resurrection people, we are called to rise above the tombs of sin, despair, and doubt. We should embrace joyful and peaceful lives, recognizing the Risen Lord’s presence in all aspects of our daily lives, even amidst suffering and struggles.
To live renewed lives in the Risen Jesus, we must be aware of His presence around us, fostering a conviction that guides our thoughts, words, and actions. This awareness prompts us to honor our bodies, keeping them holy and pure, and to respect and serve others with humility and love, acknowledging the Risen Lord within them.
We are called to be transparent Christians, radiating the love, mercy, and compassion of the Risen Jesus through our actions. By practicing charity, mercy, and forgiveness, and resisting temptations, we partake in the Resurrection of Jesus in the here and now.
